For the toughest screw driving & drilling applications in wood & metal Bosch rise to the challenge offering high powered Lithium technology cordless power tools at a weight your mother could lift
The Cordless Bosch Drill Drivers & Cordless Bosch Comb Hammer Drills GSR14.4V-LI, GSR18VE2-LI & the GSB18VE-2LI can perform the toughest screwdriving and drilling applications in wood and metal, and the GSB version can perform the toughest impact drilling applications in masonry. Ideal for screwdriving and drilling applications at medium to large diameter, such as those performed by carpenters, roofers or plumbers on the construction site.
These Bosch tools are in the Heavy-Duty class & are extremely robust with unique Electronic Motor Protection (EMP) automatically switching the motor off when the machine stalls preventing it from burning out. Moreover as with the previous Heavy-Duty models these machines have an extremely robust housing made of Durashield material allowing them to remain fully functional, even after being dropped onto concrete from a height of up to two meters making them virtually indestructible. Please note the use of the descriptive word virtually & the measurement listed at 2 metres should you have an accident with a dump truck or scaffolding mishap.
The two-speed gearbox in the Drill Drivers gives you driving screw capacity up to diameters of 10mm and 12mm respectively in first gear. The second gear is ideal for drilling holes up to diameters of 40mm and 50mm respectively in wood. Particularly advantageous features include the progressively increasing torque settings, the first 20 torque settings with slight increase are ideal for sensitive tightening or loosening of smaller screws. The torque increases severely between the settings 21 to 25, which is an advantage when driving large screws. The maximum torques in hard screwdriving applications are 80Nm on the GSR14.4V-LI and 88Nm on the GSR 18VE2- LI. The GSB18VE-2LI has a gearbox specially designed for impact drilling applications, which provides an optimum drilling rate in masonry, they drill holes with diameters of up to 14mm and 16mm respectively in masonry.
A high level of ergonomics is standard on Bosch tools, the handle on these cordless drill drivers and cordless combis has a comfort zone consisting of different softgrip coverings, they ensure particularly fatigue-free working and a good operator grip. The GSR models weigh only 2.3/2.4kgs respectively & the GSB model weighing 2.5kgs.

Over the past sixteen months Bosch Power Tools have completely redesigned and relaunched their professional 18v, 14.4v & 12 volt Cordless Combi Hammer Drills and Drill Drivers to meet the markets desire for faster robust machines providing higher torque bands than the competition with built quality to last in the real world.
The 48mm Bosch motor used throughout the range is double wound, providing an outstanding overload capacity through superior heat dissipation, the five-planet all metal gearbox incorporates a fan assisted air cooling system. A progressive clutch allows very precise torque settings for every screw diameter making it ideal for smaller screw diameters.
Robust NiMH batteries contain cooling sticks that extend overall life and 12 point battery switch connections further improve power connection plus overall battery life. In addition to the excellent build quality robustness comes from the Dura-shield flexible housing and three piece stack construction allowing the tool to continue working normally even after a 2mtr drop from height.
Both the Bosch Turbo Tough combi hammer drills and drill drivers have specific product advantages in addition to those arising from overall design benefits, these include the GSB “Turbo Tough” Combi Hammer Drill being up to 20% faster than it’s main competitor, not only is the job done quicker saving time and money but in health terms the operator has less direct time on the tool. The GSB combi gearbox ratio has been optimised for maximum hammer drilling and in 2nd gear has an impact rate of up to 31000 ipm, and unrivalled torque up to 15% more powerful. No torque adjustment is needed when switching to hammer mode as the same torque mode is available when the hammer mode is switched off.
The Bosch GSR “Turbo Tough” drill drivers supplied with 18v, 14.4v and 12 volt power have up to 15% more torque than standard machines in today’s market, the progressive clutch mechanism is even more important for drill drivers as it’s very fine settings can be used to advantage especially when working with fine finishes where final drive depth of the screw is crucial. The “Turbo Tough” drill driver range provides more torque than it’s combi hammer counterpart, an advantage for those working mainly with larger screws, drilling larger holes or working with harder woods
However there is a “but I told you so” to this good news, all this world beating technology comes at a price, the tools are excellent in all aspects except that we think they are on the heavy side, especially when market trends are pushing towards lighter lithium powered machines with battery technology well in advance of traditional NiCD & NiMH battery power for charge cycles and crucially weight. Please don’t be put off considering this range due to weight alone as standard use of these excellent tools will not cause any problems but should you be looking for a cordless driver that will see continuous action throughout a shift, the weight could start to cause some extra operator fatigue during the latter part of the shift

Launched in September the latest Multidrill from Bosch Power Tools is tagged by the manufacturer as “The Master of Versatility” and first impressions lend themselves to agree that we have a very good machine for the 4kg class
The GBH4-32DFR is one of the most powerful and lowest vibration machines in this class due to Bosch Vibration Control, this allows for a considerable reduction in the strain on the user and optimises efficiency as Bosch have built the effective vibration control into the hammer. This vibration damping system enables this professional machine to achieve a vibration value of only 8m/s2 (triaxial measurement value for hammer drilling as per EN60745) and is one of the lowest in this 4kg class
The vibration damping is achieved in 2 stages: first the air buffer, considerably larger than that fitted to conventional hammer mechanisms, reduces the air pressures in the hammer mechanism, this counteracts the oscillations like a spring and damps the vibrations where they originate. The second stage of the vibration control is a leaf spring and two swivel joints that decouple the main handle from the machine, this means that vibrations already reduced by the first stage are absorbed further.
Other highlights of this machine include being fitted with a powerful and rugged 900w Bosch motor & a single impact force of five joules ensuring maximum work at all times even when drilling large diameters or completing chiselling jobs. Specifically designed for drilling holes up to 25mm in concrete, core diameters up to 90mm and with equally easy to use rotary hammer action, the Multidrill is the machine for plumbers, sparks, brickies and carpenters on todays building sites
All in all this machine looks and feels like another winner from Bosch, during a recent Bosch roadshow at Rockingham Racetrack, those of us who took the opportunity to try the machine out agreed that it did everything it says on the wrapper and as the previous model was well liked in the trade we feel the upgraded model will quickly enhance the Bosch reputation for manufacturing machines that industry likes and uses
